Why use the drug Adderall?

I know as a teacher I had a lot of students using Adderall for their ADD or ADHD.  How would that drug assist a NFL player or anyone who does not have ADD or ADHD?  See this helpful video to get a better understanding of how the drug works and it's relationship within the athletic community.
I am very disappointed if using Adderall turns out to be true in Seattle.  This is not the sort of press or exposure the Seahawks need at anytime but especially when it appears out team has finally started to turn a corner and win games.  I like the edge and the nasty that we have brought this year on defense but not if it is gained by cheating.  This isn't going to go over well for Pete with his well documented history at USC. I am certainly not saying he is to blame or has anything to do with this but ultimately he is going to be associated with it. I will add a link to his weekly press conference as soon as it becomes available.
Richard Sherman #25 and Brandon Browner #39 are the two defensive backs in question of  using Adderall.

The Big Trip vs The Big Fish

Is this a big game?  Well, isn't every game in the NFL big?  This may not be determined as a sexy game but for Seahawk fans we know a big trip more often than not equals a loss.  However, I feel the Pete Carroll Seahawks are different.  We have the defense that allows us to travel better than many of our teams of the past. So with this big trip to the big fish I feel more optimistic than in most years.

Okay, so the real Big Fish (Bill the greatest coach ever Parcels) is no longer involved with the lesser known Miami Dolphins but it made for a fun title so forgive me for stretching the truth on the title.  Rarely do I get the opportunity to post before a game.  Usually I am working hard to squeeze in an article following a game. The Bye week provides a little extra time to all of us.

Getting a post in before the game allows me to try my luck at predicting. For starters I feel like we get to see a Seahawk team that highlights Russell Wilson.  We all know that the Dolphin defense is very stout up front and maybe be considered one of the best run stuffing front 7s.  This may serve notice to our boys in blue whom I expect to get back on track and step up the run stuffing performances we saw in the first month of the season.  With this being said I think Marshawn Lynch will see a few less carries this week.  This is certainly not a bad thing.  I'd like to see an increased use of Robert Turbin and preserve our MVP for...yes, I'm going to say it, a possible playoff run! Besides, I want Turbin to get as much experience as possible so he and Lynch can break down game film together.  While Lynch has great hands out of the backfield it appears that we lean on Turbin for short and mid range passes. As long as Turbin doesn't have the case of short arming like he did just once in the 49er game I don't expect much of a drop off.

What will Russell Wilson be like in Miami?  I expect really good.  I am also speculating that some of his family may appear in person with his roots being near Miami.  In my humble opinion Wilson has been ready and able to unleash his first 300 yard game of the season for the past month.  I have full confidence if the game plan calls for it he will deliver.  As long as our offensive line can hold up against the likes of Cameron Wake I feel that Wilson will be throwing darts to our nicely jelling wr core.  I'm actually scared to go here but am I the only fan thoroughly impressed by Golden Tate's recent display of focus, determination and athletic ability?  Okay, so he has never really lacked the later of those two listed but his focus when catching the ball is remarkably improved.  I'm nearly convinced Tate reads my blog because I have had to stop grilling him his has improved so much.  With Tate, Rice and Baldwin running crisp routes, catching deep bombs and ultimately flustering the Miami defensive secondary Wilson will have his best statistical game of the year.

While I see myself more of a animal and mammal lover I am not afraid to leverage the most obvious defensive pun available to me when playing Miami.  While I suppose the Seahawks could swoop down and pluck the Dolphins from the murky waters surrounding Sun Life Stadium and leave them like a fish out of water; I am more closely envisioning something like our local Makah tribe taking their  harpooning talents to South Beach to try their luck with the helpless Dolphins.  Every week I see Bruce Irvin with his face paint and I think to myself that he either lost another battle with the paint container or he is ready for war. This week, I suspect he is ready for war!  I also have my popcorn ready to see Brandon Mebane do his best impression of a barnacle.  I foresee him attaching that big beautiful belly on rookie QB Ryan Tannehill for so much of the day that it will take a drunk sailor with a ho to scrape Mebane off
Tannehill at the end of the game.  I see Bobby Wagner involved in the most
viscous harpoon hit this Sunday.  There are plays where it appears he has been shot directly out of a cannon and because of this I predict 2 sacks coming from Mr Wagner. Another harpoon simulating player I have high expectations for this weekend is the great Earl Thomas.  It is difficult to choose my key player in the secondary because there are so many options but while this is a tough call I'm sticking with Earl.  Don't get me wrong I think our corners are both going to be feasting on floundering passes from Tannehill all game long but it's Thomas I see being the ball hawking shark we know he can be. Dare I put on record that he will walk away with an interception?  No, I'm going to steal a Dumb and Dumber quote here and say "I  Double Dare" with a bold
statement outlining 2 interceptions and one going the distance for a TD!  With this Perfect Storm of a day, I leave my predicting to play out on Sunday.  Seahawks 24 Dolphins 6

NFL Weekend Thoughts

Non Seahawk related thoughts.

1. Vick Ballard just made what I suspect to be an ESPY play.  This should be played over and over on ESPN as a lead in to SportsCenter, NFL Live, 32, and PrimeTime. The NFL world has been craving for any Luck highlight that they can exploit for ever and this is one.  What an amazing play.

2. Dallas Cowboys, this is just hard to talk about.  What can one say that isn't going to be said more times than we can handle by all the major sports outlets?  I have both Romo and Dez Bryant on my fantasy team so I am very invested in the Cowboys. I am also very biased and feel that the Romo to Bryant TD at the end of the game could have been called a touchdown.  I see the finger is out of bounds but does the wrist that lands a split second earlier establish him in bounds? I know I'm begging here but it's the fantasy talking.  Nonetheless, it was an amazing moment for about 20 seconds. Sadly it turned like too many games have this year for the Cowboys. Another week equals another loss and more "finger" pointing. How long until wholesale changes occur in Dallas?

3. RG3 double standard?  In no way shape or form do I
dislike RG3.  I enjoy watching him just as much as the next guy.  However, I am getting tired of seeing every talk about him.  He is turning into that favorite song of yours that gets played over and over and over by the radio station until it has been ruined!  No matter what RG3 does it will be covered by everyone all the time.  Why, when his receivers drop a couple balls, do all the major media talking heads jump at the opportunity to provide excuses for his poor numbers?  Have they been watching the Seahawks and Russell Wilson? Okay, that was a dumb question.  I know they haven't! Regardless, let's treat RG3 like all the other rookie qbs.  Nobody likes a person with a silver spoon and we will all respect his efforts more if we don't feel like he is getting favorable treatment. Can his receivers do better? Yes, of course but every qb needs their wrs to make every catch.  It's just not going to happen so I say treat RG3 like you treat every rookie qb.

Seahawk Weekend Thoughts

It's never everyday that I am able to stay at home and watch a little Monday morning ESPN and NFL Network.  Should I thank Hurricane Sandy for this rare opportunity before it knocks out our power and I am left freezing, hungry and without access to a computer, TV or anything else relying on electricity for the next several days?

Have you ever noticed how much easier it is to generate thoughts and words after a loss?  It's not that I can't write about a victory, it's just that I get so frustrated with a loss that I have to clear my mind with all the areas I found problems.  Honestly and shockingly I am not upset with the offense this week.  In fact, I will even go as far as saying I thought Golden Tate actually played well.  He made the exact catches that I stated last week he has to make consistently.  Zack Miller made an impressive catch in the end zone for what should have been a game winner.

Where do the problems live this week?
Dare I say coaching?  For two weeks in a row I have now been upset with our approach to play calling on 3rd and long when a 50 plus yard field goal is in our back pocket.  What is wrong with a dump off pass if all we are wanting is 5 more yards?  Clearly the delay run is not working.  It is darn near offensive to the viewer to see this sort of effort.

Easily my least favorite situation, which occurred a painful 10 times in the game were the 3rd down conversion by Detroit.  Okay, let's be more specific.  Detroit converted 12, 3rd downs out of 16 tries and 3 of the 3rd down conversions were touchdowns. This includes the game winning touchdown.  That is a ridiculous 75 percent!  These stats would be pointed out for a team with a bad defense.  However, the Seahawks are a great defense.  Dare I say they are not if this happens?  The 3rd down and long conversions are giving me convulsions!!!  This is absolutely impossible for me to watch.  If you have seen as much Seahawk football as I have you know what is happening.  Countless times this year it's been 3rd down and 10+.  Pick your qb...Tom Brady, Alex Smith or in the case of yesterday Matthew Stafford.

The little dump pass for 5 yards turns into a 10 yard gain and first down.  What is happening here?  Are we so committed to stopping the deep ball that we give up every 3rd down dump off pass for a first down?  What do we need to change because I want to change it immediately!  From my eye, Bobby Wagner can cover a ton of space, why is he not simply roaming the middle and shadowing the rb or the TE that slips past the offensive line?  Seattle will lose a lot of games if this is not reconciled.  We have Percy Harvin coming to town this next week and he will take these dump-offs and stretch them much farther than a first down.  (Granted this would be great for my fantasy team but when it comes to the Seahawks my fantasy team takes a very distant 2nd place! Please, someone chime in with your thought on how we can stop these 3rd down conversions and dump off passes? We can't keep losing games in this way.

I want to see more of my favorite celebration dance.  Let's get back to big stops and a great defense!
