To steal a line from the Cake Boss: I'm ah Looken and I'm ah Liken
Check out this great article. Can the Seahawks live up to...shall I say hype? This is shaping up to be an interesting year as we have not had to worry about expectations. In fact we have been more worried about draft position than we have meeting the critics expectations. The #1 secondary in NFC West scratch that, this is the NFL. Talk about high praise for our boys. All but one of our starters went to the Pro Bowl last year, that should say enough! With a secondary like that, it should create opportunities for a much stronger pass rush this season. We can commit one more body to the front and play more man to man coverage with over the top safety play. Don't be surprised if Seattle has more than one guy with 10+ sacks this season, not including 1st round draft pick Bruce Irvin! I'm getting excited just talking about it.
ReplyDeleteI'm still worried about our offense though. We do seem to have all the right pieces on paper, but how they come together is a mystery to me. Until that offensive line can get a full season together and stay healthy, I won't be as excited for Beast Mode. He didn't really break out last season until the second half, where he was the best RB in the league. I want to see that for an entire season before I buy in completely. I also want to see how he reacts to possibly having a vulture (Turbin) stealing his TD's. As for WR, that is my biggest question mark for this team. We look to be loaded with talent, but how that talent pans out is a different story. Injuries have plagued this group, and for the most part they have only gotten older. Let's see if Baldwin can match his production from last season. If this group can stay healthy, Flynn should have plenty of weapons and a great season .
That's right, I said Flynn! No way he doesn't start and any talk about competition during OTAs and training camp is just smoke and mirrors from PC and JS. You don't bring in a guy and pay him that kind of money not to start. In fact, look for TJax to be released about midway through preseason so he can catch on with another team before the regular season starts. My bet is that Russell Wilson will be the backup but that the Hawks will sign a veteran journeyman as insurance before the season gets underway.
Overall, my outlook on this team is high on the positive side. How it all translates on the field, we shall see. Without lofty expectations from anyone but themselves, all this team can do is over achieve if they win ball games. None of the experts expect them to do anything more than contend for a Wild Card spot, which I think is about right. I think they will surprise a few people this year and claim one of those WC spots, if not test the 49er's for the division title.
